my new chicken seems to be losing a lot of weight - did have the sniffles but better now - feeding and laying well - and is happily foraging in the garden all day - has a very healthy appetite - help - am new to this any clues as to what I should do

Just one question.  How do you know if she is definitely loosing weight?

Her breast bone is much more prominent and she feels lighter around here - noticed because the feathers on her chest were sticking out as if there was not so much fat under

Personally I would keep an eye on her.  You could feed her a few tips, but do not forget a fat chicken seldom lays.
