Mountfield M1 Cultivator
« on: March 01, 2009, 08:41 »
Imust say, I've just joined and what a brilliant site this is for gardeners. Thanks for all the help and info so far. However, I'm am so frustrated, I'm trying to find a place to buy parts for my old Mountfield (I wish there was a site like Merry Tiller). What I am trying to get without much luck so far, is a Jockey Wheel to tension the belts. Any help gratefully accepted.

Try Chester Hundson
I have seen all sorts of improvisation on the jocky wheel even just a bearing bolted to the arm will do.
Look after the drive train, parts for that are rare.
always have a target
and an objective.

just as BBF says, use a bearing. You can use a peice of bar type metal on the outside edge to keep the belt from jumping off the bearing. just make sure the edges aren't sharp!

Thanks GWIZ and BBF. Last Friday I fitted two bearings but they are to wide and the M1 is still engaged all the time. I'll work on it, and try and get two smaller bearings. Once again thanks for your help.
BBF I have sent an e-mail to the company you suggested I'll keep you posted on the outcome.
