My daughter lives in a small village near to us, Talysarn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talysarn), and yesterday there was a couple from Kenilworth and another couple from Yorkshire knocking on doors looking for a holiday let in her street. Before they got up close and personal to have a good chat with each other. Police informed and the tourists looked shocked at the response from locals.
Lots of walkers around as well and some moron heading up to the quarry pool with diving equipment.
She tells me there are facebook groups on what routes to use to go to second homes avoiding the police too. And someone put the mountain rescue at risk as they decided to stroll up Snowdon and had an accident, requiring rescue.
Honestly, the selfishness and stupidity of these people beggars belief. Some of the locals are really on the edge of drastic actions now with these people. I can see someone is going to get a free visit to hospital or worse soon. One person was restraining her son from going out to smash their car windows and probably them too.
So many people are trying to help others and being careful to follow the rules - which are designed to keep us all safer - but £30 fines are not working. They need to be really upped to £1000 or prison. I'd shoot them with indelible dye too. Then we know they're not worth wasting NHS time on since they're brain dead already.

To see if they are truly brain-dead I'd suggest something called trepanning which is an ancient technique that doesn't involve any anaesthesia. If they're still breathing after that they won't be having any walkies for a long time.

The sort of mental lightweights who do this sort of maniacal thing are the 'victims' of tomorrow.
Even the local TV stations are telling them to behave, but when you see these idiots having barbecues on Brighton beach, you know you're in for the long haul...

Why doesn't the fire brigade get their hoses out? Not only would it prevent the under-cooked chicken thighs or sausages leading to a dose of Salmonella, but would also leave them in some need of loo-rolls!

The government should have come down hard and fast on anyone flouting the lockdown rules right from the beginning. Making an example of those who chose not to follow the rules might have deterred the rest. I agree with every word already posted.
Perhaps an apt punishment would be 100 hours of community service on the COVID-19 wards without any PPE. They think they are immune, let's see if they are.

Well the rescue helicopter went chugging over earlier towards Snowdon. I'd have sent an Apache and used the idiots for target practice. We've had some lovely weather here and would like nothing more than a stroll along the beach which we can actually see although it's 5 miles away. My daughter couldn't even take the grandsprog out for a run off the lead outside the door because there are too many people walking around, playing footie on the green etc. He's terrified we're going to die if he comes near us.
I rarely vent my anger here but these people are just ... well you know what I'm thinking.

when will people get the message stay home and only go out when its necessary taking the dog avoid close contact an as for folks trying to do holidays what planet are they on putting everyone at risk including themselves

We had some customers in the shop the first weekend of the 'lockdown'. They admitted they were here to their 'holiday home'. We refused to serve them and they said they were going to sell up when they could as we weren't the place 'they thought we were'. Tough, us Islanders look after our own. It sounds selfish, I know. But we want to get through this.

Second homers aren't hugely popular anywhere I know of. All they do is push property prices up further and they add very little to the local economy - popping into the village shop for something they forgot to pack being about it for many.
That's why gorgeous places like Salcombe will wither and die unfortunately.
My oldest business chum was so proud to have a small place there, as part of a legacy.
He sold up when the place died, and is now back to his roots where he is so happy with his lot!

Walsall dad fined for son flouting lockdown.
A father has been fined by police after his son persistently flouted the coronavirus lockdown rules.
The boy had been out three times in the Blakenall area of Walsall in the West Midlands before a police warning was issued to his father.
But as the father was unable to prevent his son leaving the house for a fourth time, West Midlands Police said it had "no option" but to issue a fine.
The force said the boy was also abusive to an officer on one occasion.
If he is found outdoors again the fine could be doubled and reach a total of £960, officers said.

Everyone seems to be having a hissy fit looking to get out more when it could be much worse. People in Italy are much more constrained, a complete lockdown. We have it much easier than people in other countries do, they aren't trying to have street parties and fireworks. In India the police are whapping people with bamboo canes if they can catch them.

Maybe it's time for Growster and I to create an implement of extreme torture that can be freely given to the said police, but it must include a video recorder so we can indulge in a little bit of karma. Sorry Mods but that's really got my back up big time!

Thinking back to the beginning of March when that poor nurse came off a 48 hr shift to go home, wanting to buy a few items, and finding nothing on the shelves, made me feel roughly like you do at the moment!
I've just had a lovely email from our 'designated' volunteer in our village, just checking everything's OK! There's a suitable and hopefully acceptable recompense with some plants, is being dealt with as we speak! Yesterday, even a new face appeared with an Easter Egg for Mrs Growster!
So much kindness going around will easily beat the brain-dead yobs, skivers, lazy trash etc...

On the news today I saw two people patrolling a beach down south who took a film of a family having a barbie on the shore and two things came into my mind. One of my favourite films is Jaws, and the other is an old medical operation called trepanning which doesn't involve an anaesthetic. Methinks both of these options might just help the NHS coffers to swell.

I wish the Welsh government would do what the people want and up the potential fine to £1000. £60 is less than a parking ticket. And since the rescue services still function - we see the helicopter flying over on its way from the airfield to Snowdon - they should charge those fools for the service.
About £5,000 a pop should cover it. Plus something extra if they need morphine for the pain.. maybe another £1000 :D :D :D

A family have been sent home by police after driving nearly 200 miles (322 km) to go fishing, despite restrictions being in place due to coronavirus.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the family from London was discovered near Torquay at about 05:00 BST.
Control room supervisor Mike Newton said they were fined and "escorted out of Devon", adding: "I shall refrain from further comment."
It would be useful if during the Government briefing , they had an ' Idiot of the day ' slot and used examples such as the above. I'm sure the vast majority would welcome.

And I've just plated up a lovely Sunday dinner with pudding for her to heat up and left it on her doorstep. Meals on wheels. I know for sure from noise further up from us that there is a larger than normal gathering. 😠

The police were out and about in Reading this weekend, stopping cars heading out of town on the main routes. I only know this as OH was out delivering food shopping to people and saw them.
I hope the message is starting to sink in now, but I find it mad that they even needed to be there ::)

I can understand people in towns and cities wanting to get out to countryside and enjoy the lovely weather. But when we hear of locals driving 20 miles to go to a beach, moving the road closed signs to drive there.. words fail me. We're so fortunate to live in some beautiful countryside with space to walk around etc. However, it's frustrating to know we can't just pop to the beach by law even though we totally agree with it.
As for the news - what is the BBC thinking? Yes, there are problems with PPE but the NHS management and government are doing everything they can. We all want this to end when safe to do so but endless demands for a date and plan at this point is just pathetic. Last night the 10pm news was just a depressing string of obituaries. As Val said it's enough to make you suicidal. I'm not saying they should censor or paint a rosy picture of the situation but neither should they aim to bring us down.

They're not really helping a tragic situation, and most of the news has been written by nutters who pen the sordid stuff for Eastenders, only worse...
And why do they show people grouping close together in kayaks or dog-walking kit before each bulletin? Perhaps they don't take any notice of government guidelines like normal people do...

I haven't watched Eastenders since Dirty Den was in it! But the Archers I've listened to for years are surreal now. They used to have topical farming related bits (well that was the original intention of the programme) - now it's a corona free world and the local builder who was a nice chap has become an evil slaver which just doesn't fit. It's bad writing, unconvincing. Then again, they've destroyed Dr Who - I think you get less propaganda on N Korean TV.

Blackpool has been a ghost town, every credit to the people that live here. Police were out in force yesterday but the beaches were empty.
As I mentioned in my Easter Sunday post, we had a street party which was applauded by two of them as they drove down our street, we all stuck to our front gardens, min distance was 7 meters. We have an 85 year old lass who's husband is in care and she has had to stay in on her own, for her to come out and shout to chat she loved it and put a big smile on her face. It can be done.
Fines have to be enough to make these idiots think, slap on the wrist wont work.

I so loved the Bergerac series that I went on holiday to Jersey in the 80's on a Shearing's trip. I was in a queue to have my photo taken for charity when he singled me out for a hug by saying "Come here you lovely lady" much to the annoyance of the chap behind me when I gave him my camera so he could take a pic. All I was left with is a fuzzy picture which, if I can find it, I'll post it on here.

No they shouldn't. It is a horrible situation with lots of pain and loss, but also good things are happening. We have 2 huge Nightingale hospitals built in days by amazing people, our NHS is doing an incredible job and for the most part, people are accepting their new life.
Traffic is minimal, so air quality is better. Lots of people are going out of their way to help others. Community spirit is on the rise. People are re-disovering simple pleasures like cooking a nice meal, going for a walk, gardening, playing with their kids or even Bergerac box sets ;)
If you are safe at home and well, there is a lot to be thankful for :)

So today daughter and I decided on a long walk (55 mins) got on to the prom here, all of a sudden the benches were full of late 60s/70 year olds just sat chatting away with not a care in the world, people walking past them saying your not supposed to be sat around but they juat ignored them.
Just cant get it in my head what these people are thinking!

We went for a walk and the number of people who had masks on and thought that social distancing didn't apply to them. :mad: was horrifying. We retreated from a crossing at a junction to let people off the road safely and were pressed against a wall to get some space. And one prat just toddled up past us nearly touching us when it the footpath was about 2m. Or were chatting to a friend and maintaining 2m from a friend, but nearly walked into us. There was 4 of us so we weren't hard to miss. Raging. :mad:
2 Metres from everyone and it's not just yourself you need to think about.
There was some angry words from me about 2 metres. My knee's hurting so next time I'm taking my walking stick and it'll have two uses. Boundary delineation being one of them.

From what I can gather, masks don't offer the wearer much protection but they do protect other people to a degree by restricting the ejection of droplets from the wearer.
Talking of idiots - the daily briefing journalists are really going for it. My favourite so far is the one who asked the Chief Scientific Officer if they would change their advice if the evidence changed. :ohmy: Although they answer every question properly, you can see in their eyes what they're really thinking.

Why they can't just go out and get a story, instead of trying 'Gotcha' tactics to the scientists, experts, and even Ministers, is beyond me - - - well, it isn't really as they do it all the time now! Not good for business I'm afraid.

Amazed in the supermarket queue how many people were joining taking out crumpled used gloves and face masks and putting them on. If you have touched a contaminated surface then they are contaminated and everything you touch will be contaminated including your face! Not only that your pocket is contaminated!!!!

As long as the walk takes longer than the drive, is what I heard.
The document categorically states it is “lawful to drive for exercise”. However, driving for a prolonged period for only brief exercise would “not likely” be a reasonable excuse I guess would cover that, but that would allow me to in effect drive for 1 hour (lake district) to walk for an hour! Very very grey area do you think Aunty?

The way I see it there is a real risk of some serious violence developing. I wouldn't recommend visiting N Wales or popping over to your holiday home at the moment. There's a lot of scared people and fear generates adrenaline. It's a small step from shouting to thumping for some of them.
I think that much of the press are more interested in a story than any sense of responsibility. Just like the morons sharing crazy nonsense on social media - as if the opinion of someone who thinks the Royal Family are lizards in disguise (Remember the aliens in V?) is of equal value to that of a top scientist.

I agree John, I have no intention of moving but you know full well there is a lot of idiots ;) out there who will go and park up for walks.
I do know Lancs police are being strick (car from Middlesex as an example) and I hope they keep Blackpool closed.
There was another very grey area of that report, they also said you can sit down to eat if you are on a long walk but not if your on a short walk??? How will they know how long you have been walking.

We're going out with the kids and my knee is acting up so I'm taking my stick along. It'll provbabally double up as a boundary marker because we were out Thursday. And the number of people maintaining 2 meters from their friends but walking into us, or wearing a mask and ignoring the 2 m distance rule when we were pressed to the wall to try get space was disgusting. The latter was just shy of brushing up against us.

Most of us down Sarf are being quite sensible, just a few local idiots tbh but London is like a different world altogether. People there have always had different attitudes to the rest of us, thinking it's 'just like flu' - and they have the death rate to prove it. Sad but it's their own fault if they catch it...

A lady chum in the queue for the shop yesterday, was pointing out all the discarded gloves all over the car park!
We then had to agree that everyone who is so anti-plastic-anything, must be kicking themselves while they try and buy real rubber gloves...:0)
She also said (she's from South Africa), that some countries have banned alcohol and tobacco! Now that is something that I totally missed, but she says that drinking it really is a problem in SA...:0[

The world is barking mad.
As long as the walk takes longer than the drive, is what I heard.
The document categorically states it is “lawful to drive for exercise”. However, driving for a prolonged period for only brief exercise would “not likely” be a reasonable excuse I guess would cover that, but that would allow me to in effect drive for 1 hour (lake district) to walk for an hour! Very very grey area do you think Aunty?
Driving for an hour to walk for an hour is not exercising far more than driving, given you have to drive for another hour to get home again. The guideline is amined at local journeys, and is in the context of whether it is ok to drive a few miles, not 100 miles to do a full day hill walk (it has been clearly stated that national parks do not want visitors at this time). The objective of the guidelines needs to be understood, and initiative used in interpreting them (we are humans with intelligence, not machines only capable of following instructions to the letter).

Some are not intelligent enough to make that decision and some are just pig headed and will do as they please. Luckily most are able to do the right thing.
