Growing Early Peas.
« on: March 03, 2009, 00:03 »
I have planted some early peas in pots in the shed. I have read up on the pea growing trench thing, but thought i would get some started inside where the temp is better. Do others start peas off this way or just in the trenches :nowink:
Life is a heap of manure. Growing one minute, stinking the next.

I start a lot of things indoors to get an extra early crop.  Also, I have clay which takes ages to warm up, so it can be May before the soil is warm enough for direct sowing.  In that sort of spring, I end up with my maincrop most-things in paper pots, just to get the damn things germinating.  Finally, if you have mice, legumes in the ground tend to get gnawed before they have a chance to germinate - once the shoot is up, they seem to be a lot less appealing.

I usually start peas off in paper pots, but cant do this year as Ive far too many to sow. I will just sow them direct later.  Pots have always worked for me in the past
