Am I too late to plant onion sets? I know you should plant up to April (or so most of them say) but I want to plant some with my carrots... what does everyone think?

I did find some that I could plant in sept but that seems a bit far away (and also dont harvest till next summer).

Go for it, Mama, the wort thing that can happen is that they will be smallish onions.

As for the carrots, they still will get the fly, if you have them about.

Your problem is finding them, as you alluded to in your first post.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

What about spring onions? I am trying to grow some with my carrots. I have just mixed the seed together. Just starting to get 1 or 2 onions showing through.

I got my plot about 4 weeks ago and one of the other plotholders very kindly gave me some onion sets that he had left over, so mine have only been in for about 3 weeks.

Have a chat with your plot neighbours and just mention that you'd like to try some even though it's late, just a shame you can't get hold of any...maybe they'll have some they can offer you?
