i live in the west country and we have a possible frost soon,will my leeks survive or should i get them out ? thanks in advance

it may depend on the variety - a one off snow and frost generally not a problem, but some are more winter hardy than others so worth just checking which ones you've grown  ;)

Back in the old days my leeks were impossible to dig out sometimes as the ground was frozen, but they did not come to harm. See what the instructions on the seed packet say in case yours are not a hardy variety.

My old Dad, who grew fantastic leeks every year, wouldn't have dreamt of digging / eating leeks until there'd been a hard frost. He said it made them taste better as the frost intensified the flavour.

I remember the winter of 1963 very clearly. The ice stayed on the pavements for weeks. I haven't seen winters like that since.
