Hosepipe ban on the horizon, how to prepare?
« on: March 12, 2012, 12:20 »
Hello All,

I'm hearing about a potential hosepipe ban, which could be brought in before the end of the month. Does any one have any suggestions to help conserve water? I mulch with Manure where possible and have 3 water butts linked to the shed (but I can easily use all of these in a week in summer!), and I'm not moving up north, I moved down here to get away from the horizontal rain!!!

Thanks in advance...

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I'd best make sure my water butts are all full then  ::)
I wouldn't do any more digging, it only allows more water to evaporate from deep in the soil!

Bury a holey old hose all round your plot and accidentally turn it on now and again.

Perhaps meant in jest but hardly responsible if people are facing the threat of water rationing and/or standpipes ...
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Don't think we need 2 threads running at the same time on the same board on the same subject - I'll lock this one in favour of THIS one; ideas which keep within both the terms and the spirit of the ban would be most welcome, although not as welcome as a prolonged deluge!
