My rescue girlies
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:22 »
Just a little update about my horrid neighbours chooks that I rescued a week ago. They were looking awful, see, they were extremely thin but  just looked at a lettuce for 24 hours before they ate it, I don't think they had eaten anything green before, and I think 2 of them had their beaks chopped (b****y cruel). 2 of them had bald blooming patches but twice daily smotherings of Teatree cream sorted that out and after 4 days I let them out with the others, they look so happy now and their feathers and bald patches are coming on a treat and they have put loads of weight on already, I am so chuffed.

I will post some happy chook piccies later in the week
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!!

Some of our hens came with chopped beaks. Fortunately it does not seem to affect their feeding or bother them now. I presume that this means that our POLs came originally from somewhere where they raise chicks  destined in the main for intensive farming. Our spoilt girls were the ones that got away :)

Thanks midwife. She couldn't look me in the eye when she handed them over,I have to confess to being a very outspoken person but I could'nt say much 1 because she is French and when you want to speak your mind it helps to do it in you mother tongue  2 I just wanted too hit her  I think the look on my face said it all

Well said Wildeone, that made me laugh actually    I shall remember that for next time. Thing is I think the best thing I can do really is just report her to the authorities in the hope she gets nicked for the way she keeps her animals. That would REALLY be justice
