Title: Feather Advice......
Post by: RICH_Chicken on November 25, 2011, 22:14
Hi, All

Ive had my chickens a week now, they are ex-bats, so had some feathers missing from around neck/head area, plus other parts, they seem to be doing ok, im just wanting to know if im doing things right, and if there is anything i can do to make the feathers come back? They eat mainly crumb, which i assume they have been used to all there life, i have introduce a mix of crumb, layers pellet and grit in there food, and they seem happy along with the odd worm or two...will the feathers and comb go back to normal in time? or is there things i need to give the hens?

Cheers

They will feather up, one of mine took nearly a year, I would keep the grit seperate so they can take what they need also do you have oyster shell for them? I am sure you are doing everything fine, they now have a chance to become chickens again and watching them grow is so lovely! Good luck with your girls :)
