Did it rain, or get misty, after it was applied - this reduces the effect.

It certainly doesn't work on Marestail unless you crush the stems first.

hi  the weather was dull and 16degrees applied at 9.15 it rained the next morning so weedkiller should have been dry, the mares ail was well crushed, I'm beginning to wonder if the weeds have become resistant to Glyphosate, the only weeds that have gone back are a patch of Bubblhia seedlings growing up a wall side,  the drives gravel over limestone jezza

add a few drops of liquid soap to the mix and shake this foams up the weed killer and makes it stick to marestail giving it time to be absorbed since iv'e done this stopped crushing and get better results

Please tell me off if I'm speaking out of place here...

I have (or had) a bit of marestail that kept popping up between the steps up to my garden. It had spread to the ground to the side but I seem to have managed to keep it in check with vinegar. I have a bottle of normal vinegar sat on the steps and every dry day the marestail gets a nice drink. It doesn't take long for it to go a very dark colour and curl up (presumably dead). I realise this method wouldn't work on a normal garden situation but for confined areas like steps it's worked wonders for me.

That is interesting. The glyphosate farmers use also kill it.
Marestail will be going into spore mode in the next few weeks, so keep on top of it.
