Blue water pipes for hoops
« on: March 10, 2011, 12:55 »
Hi all - I've read lots of references to those blue water irrigation pipes that people use to make hoops for covering crops with fleece/netting etc - where on earth does anyone get hold of the stuff? Any tips much appreciated...

Also other (than Wickes) builders, plumbers or agricultural merchants. Who do you have in your area? Lots of places, when you know where to look! :)

MDPE Blue Water Pipe - Where to buy
Hi everybody

I'm looking for the best (input cheapest  :D ) place to buy 20mm MDPE Blue Water Pipe.

This is to make hoops for covering on the allotment.

Cheapest I have found is the bay of evil at around £20 for 25m, anyone know any place cheaper?

Regards

Its way cheaper than that where I work, even including the VAT! :D As I said, shop around your local, builders, plumbers or agricultural merchants...

I have now. I started my own thread, as I hadn't seen this one and Mumofstig merged them together.

There are lots of suppliers - e-bay was cheapest - but its not cheap to buy. But certainly the best for building polytunnels. Dont underestimate how strong it is though. I found that I had to use clamps and wood to straighten it so it would slip over scaffolding pole.

Just a thought, when I installed a temp cattle drinker 200 meters from the main I  used black pipe because it was above ground .The agricultural merchant said blue was unsuitable because its not UV resistant !
