Being well aware of the dangers of pigeons and caterpillars to sprouts i thought i was being clever by building a little cage out of canes, cheap tennis balls and plastic fruit mesh. The sprouts have been doing really well, but checked this morning and found that a couple of plants had been stripped
Anyway, was weeding away when i notice a little vole or mouse in amongst the sprouts. It ran up a stalk and then on to a leaf and snapped it! On closer inspection, under some nearby junk i find the creature's nest surrounded by sprout leaves.

It seems it is only small boys that don't like sprouts.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Put a little ring of wire around the bottom of the stem?  Might not manage it then.  I grew some last year and we killed the fatted brussel on Christmas day....

That's our plan too, but it just seems everyone wants to do it first

Holly too is supposed to deter mice - they don't like crawling over it.

I expect there are several prickly things you could pop around your sprouts to make them less accessible/desirable and send Mr Mouse elsewhere for leaves for his nest??

So long as he doesn't choose another of your veggies!

Good luck anyway, and all the best for the fatted Christmas brussels  :D
