hi all looking for a new belt for my old merry tiller.
not sure of the model or age, it is a real work horse.
i have the serial number, is there anyone still selling parts
i have found a uk website, i think it is merry tiller.co.uk
but seems no phone number, as i would like to explain the tiller.

Is it a 'v' belt?

You should be able to buy a belt from any bearings supplier.  I got a couple for my machine at half the price of a specialist shop.

Yes.  Just a standard transmission belt.  Fan belts etc. My local bearings shop keeps thousands of belts in stock so I just took my broken one and they found a match.

Selling Merry Tiller parts on-line isn't straightforward, as many have been modified. So, even if the owner has the serial number, someone may have moved the engine on the chassis (sometimes for no apparent reason), or fitted an oversize crank pulley. It may well be easier to take the belt to an engineers supplier if you have one nearby.

can i send you some pictures, the actual pully  looks about a inch diameter.
where the belt sits on, the larger wheel is 14.5 " in diameter, I've tried a new belt which fits.
but it is tad thick, when started the blades go round, with out the clutch
engaged, this is only used twice a year, and starts first time, so don't want to send it to the allotment in the sky. it also has a briggs and stratton engine,
and from the handle bars the fuel tank is in front of the engine.
it has a wolesey birminham badge on it.thanks sam. and is 5hp.

hi ts an A section belt i use A 46 A 47 belts from my local bearing supplier last one cost £ 4.50 its been on5years and used for lawn care attachments and a 32 inch  snow plough which makes the belt run warmer because the engines just above tick over all day long  my bearing supplier is Yorkshire Engineering Services in Selby or Goole

Send me some pictures, the email address is on my website, however the standard crank pulley for all models, except Titans, is 2" outside diameter, I don't think you could go down to 1" as the shaft dia that it sits on is 3/4".
