Thanks, I'll give that a go. Apart from anything else, the traps that actually kill wasps can all just as easily kill bees. That's the trouble with traps generally, they're completely undiscriminatory.

Hi all, just to share what happened to me last year i noticed lots of wasps in my garden around my gala apple tree. Decided to remove the apples after dark when i thought all the wasps would be back at their nest! so with bin bag and torch I crept out and found that the wasps had set up multiple occupancy dwellings in the actual apples which they had hollowed out!! Yuck. I now have no apple tree as I cut it down rather than have them come back this year.

That was drastic!

Couldn’t you have tried putting up a notice first: “No Vacancies – The tree’s full”

to me , the wasps are searching for grubs , caterpillars ,

we found a small dish of malt vinegar works a treat ,

anything sweet turns the wasps drunk , even sweat can make a wasp aggresive

place the vinegar up wind of where you are working ,

the aroma will drift around to where you are working ,
