Where did you get the picture from?  Would that not be a fairly good clue?

it is in fact a throttle lever that is missing...

i have just read Johns thread complete with pdf manual for my machine        very happy

i got there in the end    yes and very happy with the result now i have got to try and source one.  I will keep looking
