Hi removed window for summer do you think its time to refit ive kept chickens for 15 months and have never closed the poop hole but think the window may be too much what do you think

I wouldn't have thought so yet, it's not very cold at night and hens need plenty of ventilation. Certainly mine will not have the window closed down until bonfire night, and it's usually kept open a little through the winter.

Strange you should say that!!.....we were just talking about putting a window in with the turkeys! ( Karl did'nt put one in when he made it!! I would do. I think everything needs abit more light in the winter. :)

I've got 4 x 2" holes front and back high up at the gable ends.

Do you reckon they'd need reducing in full Winter or would they be ok assuming not draughty ??

I can always pack ina bit of extra straw for the really frosty nights. I only enlarged the holes in early summer so last winter they were fine.

:lol:  you know its too cold if they get frostbite on their combs  :shock:  seriously tho' if it's really cold then it don't hurt to smear a little vaseline on their combs to help prevent frost bite.
