« on: September 26, 2006, 22:37 »
I havve a multitude  of ground artichokes! tried digging out last year , but they are back with a vengance , great screen , about 8 foot high , but must get rid .!!!!! have dug up till me little heart is content , any quick solution to the problem??. And dont say dig deeper to remove as I have this one in me head already! .  BUT I HAVE A LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM,.
The things I sow sometimes dont grow I'm sorley disenchanted. But oh what fun I have with stuff ,I havn't even planted.

Glyphosate? Air strike?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Agent Orange or Napalm should do the trick.

Not terribly organic, though!

And how many have just muttered the line "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" when reading this?

My pal Wali, who sent that recipe in, went to the college about 10 minutes walk from here when he started pottery. Now he travels the world from his base in Japan.

I wonder if Japanese customs would intercept artichokes :)

I can give you some guidance with the side effects but do not understand why you would want to get rid of them altogether. How many crops do we have where you can just dig a bit until you have enough for dinner all through the winter months, then up they all come again next spring as good as ever.

To compensate for the echo you should have root ginger in your diet. (One of the benefits of living in a multi-racial community).

Ho-hum... I mistook root ginger for artichokes when I was first married and tried to make the new OH some of that lovely soup Dad used to make....

.... remarkably we are still married......

.... hopefully this autumn (20 or so years on) I will finally make him real artichoke soup!

I'm not sure I could present the ginger as the antidote though - might bring back too many memories
Sally (N.Ireland) Organic as far as I know!

Plant plenty.  Celebrate success.  (Let selective memory deal with the rest.)
