A visit to the vet
« on: November 20, 2007, 22:40 »
Hi I took Rita to the vet this evening and she has been given all clear, bum area completely cleared up, after update post other day she developed sour crop (i reckon due to all antibios she's had recenty), any way I fed her live yoghurt for a couple of days and she's ok now.

Earlier in day my other half met vet nurse in bank, she said that someone had taken a cockerel that had appeared on their doorstep, and left it at vets.  So when I took Rita I took some corn & mealworms for the cockerel.

The vet nurse took us through surgery whilst one of the vets were doing pre-op preperation on an unconcious moggy, to back where the cockerel was sat looking pretty sad.  A georgous bird some sort of game cock, but somewhat battered, no comb and lots of scars.

Vet reckoned it had either been used to bait dogs or for fighting.  They said they'd called RSPCA but i'm worried that that lot will take it and put it down, hope not cos poor sod deserves better.  I'd take it myself but already had to re-home one cos of neighbours and I have two small children not a good idea to bring home potentially aggressive cockerel.

strange that someone as "evil" as that to do fighting would think to leave it at a vets, you would have thought they would just kill it! :?
