One of the lads at the allotments lost 16 out of 17 of his hens the fox only left one terrified and featherless cockerel. felt so sorry for him i gave him some of my banties which i was going to sell in a month or so anyway. im looking to get some rhode island reds and some more ex-battery hens. just warning everyone what could happen because i would have been devastated.

that's awful; he must be heartbroken, I know I would be!

Foxes are always a threat and can never be forgotten about. I can't imagine what a terrible sight it must have been to find all those dead bodies
A secure boundary is essential. But in a situation like mine where my two chooks wander about the back garden it is impossible to make the boundary secure - trees, shrubs, sheds all help foxes to get in and out of the garden  The ultrasonic fox deterrent I use gives me some peace of mind but I always shut them up in their little fox-proof run when I go out :!:
