Is that light, or heavy duty?

Looks a good deal, one of the reviews says it isn't as lightweight as some fabrics but I suspect it may not be the really strong stuff as there's no details on the link about UV stability or guarantee.

If you have a large area to cover, I would recommend getting something wider than 1m if possible - you have to ensure that all the edges of the fabric are properly weighted down, and there are lots more edges when the fabric is narrow.

Screwfix do 2m x 50m for £40 - says it's heavy duty...not tried it yet...

My neighbour is a road surfacing contractor and often has various bits which are left over from 4m wide rolls (they cut them with a disc-cutter, so they are still rolled up). The only problem is if you use a Rotavator, when the frayed edge strand get caught up in the rotors, it's worse than spear grass.

I did use the heavy duty woven stuff but found it a real pain with the edges fraying and weeds got through as well. I use stuff like the Wickes rolls now with no probs.

Im with woodentop on this one.  I dont mind the 1m width cos as an oldie dragging stuff around is hard work  and all those frayed edges

That is a really good price pity I dont want any

I have covered a small area with this weed control fabric from Wickes. Problem is, that it is designed to have something put on top (bark, gravel decking etc)  It lets light through (albeit much reduced) but the grass is still perfectly green underneath even though it has been covered for three weeks !!!!  It is pegged down, put the grass underneath is pushing it up in the middle.  I have to regularly walk over it to stamp it back down again.

Have learnt my lesson and will buy the mo expensive heavy duty stuff next time.

We got some light weight stuff yesterday for our paths, were putting it down with wood chippings on the top.

£1.99 from Poundstretcher! 1.5m x about 6m I think.

Another plotter has used it and he's had no weeds grow through this way with stuff on top. However some one else put it around their strawbs and the weeds have pushed through.

Some weeds (thistles in particular) have tremendous strength and will break up tarmac.
