Just been given some autumn planting onion sets is it too late to plant them ?
Hurray finally retired
two plots now 31A and 35A

Given there's a forecast for some very cold weather, over the next few weeks I'd advise against it.
Can you plant them in modules/small pots in a greenhouse/polytunnel.

If you haven't, all you can do is plant them, preferably under some fleece, and keep your fingers crossed  :lol:

I tend to agree with Mum on this topic if you do have a polytunnel or greenhouse as said you could give them a go we set our autumn sets about 3 weeks ago in pots in the greenhouse and most have come up I think I set around 100 sets

but with winter fast approaching its going to slow things down I wouldn't go for outdoor sowings but that's only my opinion and as Mum said using fleece could help why not give it a go you've nothing to loose as you where given the sets in the first place  :D
