Started grey and miserable with misty fine rain.  Cheered up by lunchtime and been quite a pleasant afternoon.  Still not very warm though.

Next week it's back up to a balmy 34 C (so "cool" is relative; 26 C in August is considered VERY comfortable).
 
It's not too unusual for a tropical storm (or what's left of it) to work it's way north to the Atlantic coast again. Especially storms that re-emerge at the New York coast, or further north, could cross the Atlantic!  On occasion, sometimes our rain storm later becomes your rain storm!

JayG would happily welcome the remains of storm Fred as long as he didn't outstay his welcome (and was rapidly replaced by Anticyclone Annie.)

Repeat .. this is not good. It's very humid as well which is causing problems in the greenhouse and polytunnel. Very much blight weather.

It started nice here today, bit of blue sky, some sun, although a bit on the cool side at 14c but that's what jumpers are for . It's clouded over again and gone grey - I've had to put the house lights on but I'm still sitting in gloom
