Help please fellow gardeners.

I have lost my calculation sheet for the amount of potatoes I need.

I am going plant early potatoes in a section of my plot that is 6 metres x 2 metres.  The earlies are called "Rode Eesterlingen" (Red Duke of York, I think), which means red earlies. They are delicious potatoes.

How many kg of potatoes would I need for this purpose, approximately?

I planted all earlies last year, thinking I could harvest them early, before the dreaded blight struck. And I succeeded (but the fact that there was harldly any rain at all last year might have helped).

We were eating the potatoes up until early January.

I plant RDOY 1ft apart in rows 2ft apart so by my reckoning, 6m is 19ft 8 inches so 19-20 potatoes per row. Width wise 2m is 6ft 6 so you're looking at 3 rows = 60 spuds in total.

Although RDOY are quite small seed spuds the average is 20 potatoes per 2kg so I'd go for a minimum of 6kg.

And you're right, Red Duke of York are gorgeous!

By the way , excuse my ignorance but what is a net (3 x 2kg nets (approximately 20 tubers per net)?

It's just referring to the net bag they come in.

Thanks. Here in my corner of Flanders the  potatoes are in huge Hessian sacks and they then place the quantity you want in a paper bag, hence my confusion about nets (I never planted any potatoes before I left England)!
