Teaching hens to perch

I have noticed that two of my hens have started sleeping in the nest box, and pooing in there. They are just 18 weeks old at the moment. How long should I leave them once they have gone to bed before picking them up and putting on the perch?

at least they are in the chook house!! My little pekin has refused point blank to even roost in the house, I have found her up trees for the last 4 evenings!! (Even with one wing clipped to a stump!
I popped her in my large fowl house last night (With the very dominating Sally chicken...)
She was in the bantie house pronto tonight lol!!

When my young chucks were moved into their new accommodation, I had 4 bantams squeezed into a single nest box on their first night. They are now perching nicely by
themselves...took about 2 weeks to get the hang of it.

I'm sure yours will soon get the hang of it too...they just seem to need more cuddles when they are young!

Anytime after they are settled and sleepy just go in and move her - you may have to do this for a few weeks until they get the idea.
I also have 4 that don't sleep indoors but 3 are to lose their home tomorrow when we move the lorry that they sleep on.
