Mine tend to be called Ladies or Aunties - they were named after my partner's 3 Great Aunts from London - Bess, Gladys and Doll.... so they are called the Aunties by our friends.

I named three of my girls after my mothers' aunties: Sylvia, Phoebe and Elsie.  Elsie was also the name of my partner's grandmother who ran a chicken farm until the 1920s so that was also appropriate.

I didn't know how my mother would react to having chickens named after her aunties but when I told her, she just pointed out that I had missed one!  My next chicken will have to be named Isobel.   :)

My partner banned me from naming chickens after his (still living) aunties.  But Gladys, Betty and Gwendoline are perfect chicken names!  I'm glad you have a Gladys.
