just dug up 2 Kestrel and got just enough for lunch tomorrow for 2, so not a great yield :(

The ground is soo dry.........I don't think I will lift anymore till I, or the sky, give them a few good waterings

Harvesting Vivaldi at the moment. Good crop, one plant does more than a meal for two. They taste nice either cold in potato salad or hot with butter. Good sizes too.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....

Oh no - rain please!  There is just a chance of a shower on Tuesday, so fingers crossed.  I have started watering the garden with a hose but we can only use a tap on the allotment.  TOH ran some water down the potato trenches the other evening but it has made the soil dry out to a smooth surface and if it rains it will all run off as we are on a slope.  I tried hoeing it to break up the surface and speared a baby spud instead!  And even worse, I just raised a cloud of dust - it is becoming like the dustbowl of the American Depression :(

There's nothing quite like the taste of your first home grow tatties. Even if the yield is small the satisfaction is immense.

I've finished off all the first earlies in sacks and containers and lifted the first of the Charlottes from the plot today. Three and a half pounds from one plant and they tasted divine!!

I furtled around my Vales Emerald yesterday and got about a pound of golf ball sized tatties.  Am I right in assuming that they get bigger further down?
