[tooo many seeds]

i have made loads of ribena/grape juice wines since april with no problem now i have one demi john that wont ferment anyone got any ideas i definately put sugar in and yeast,i even put another yeast to make sure

Without you supplying the recipe and precisely what you did it is all guess work.

1) You didn't get rid of the preservative in the Ribena or the Grape Juice. The preservative is there to prevent things like yeast turning the juice foul.

2) Too much sugar (trying for a high alcohol level?). Most grape juices have a high amount of sugar in them. I guess that Ribena has also. If the sugar content is too high yeast often finds it difficult to get going. Best advice is to add the sugar in 2 or 3 batches as the batch ferments, not all at the start.

3) Did you make a starter out of the yeast or throw it in. Could take it a few days to get going if thrown in. If it survives. I usually find it doesn't survive - been there , done that.

4) Any nutrient in the mix?
5) Any acid in the mix?
6) Is there air in the mix (stir a lot to oxygenate the mix)

i tried ribena years ago & it didn't start. think it's the preservatives in the drink. i did hear it could be boiled first to drive out preservative? i prefer to make wine with a litre of any fruit juice (or 1/2 litre in the case of orange juice) & 3lb of sugar, always starts & tastes great!
