I have had my allotment for precisely one week and have been spending a lot of time there weeding (there is a lot to do). I am 30 and go to the allotment with my 6 month old. He's not much help, but is good company.
This is my first allotment. I'm a keen, albeit VERY amateur, grower and my terrace is filled with strawberries and flowers. I have taken on my 20 ft x 60 ft plot in the hope of growing vegetables. I am hoping to slowly get things planted while I continue to clear. The clearing is going slowly, though, as I am comprehensively removing bindweed roots as I go.

Hello and welcome. :)
Slow and steady wins the race. You'll be really glad you took the time to get the blasted bindweed roots out.
Lots of good advice on here, which has helped me go being a complete newbie 3 years ago. It's very addictive - am now starting on plot number 2...
