Sudbury Soil Test Kit
« on: April 09, 2009, 19:11 »
I know this is a long shot but  -

When I wos but a nipper, my dad had a Sudbury soil test kit - just the basic one to test for ph, nitrogen, phosperous and potash.  I used to use it (no doubt very self importantly ) and test the soil at the beginning of the season.

I have now inherited it as he has given up serious gardening. It is complete with the colour charts and little stirring stick - but not the instructions that say how much of each reagent you need to add to how much soil! :(

Can I remember over the decades (and centuries and millenia...)?  Nope.  Completely blank.  But ....  just maybe ... one of you might have them and could scan them for me and PM over?  Or post or just tell me?  And put me out of my misery?

Hi Madcat,  I have a Sudbury soil test kit and have also lost the instructions.  Not much help, but you are not alone.  Maybe we should buy new kits and use those instructions, just an idea.  Good Luck

I can't help you either, but are you talking about an battery operated test kit with a probe or one of the test tube jobbies?

You are most welcome! My father was a very keen and methodical gardener - and a hoarder to boot! But luckily so are we! ;-) So we saved a lot of his stuff and are finding  it very useful on our allotment here in Grays.  The Sudbury Soil Kit was still in its original unopened box. But the rubber droppers have perished. Nothing lasts tfor ever!  :tongue2:
