I've got Greenshaft, Alderman, Roi des Conserves (a marrowfat) and Super Sugarsnap peas. If there's any room left I'll also grow some Carruthers Purple Podded, as the seed are getting a bit old now and I would like to keep this heritage variety going.

Direct. When you're growing 30'+ rows - there's no other way!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Do you cover those with nets? Do the birds not have a pop at them?

Do you cover those with nets? Do the birds not have a pop at them?

Whilst germinating, all are covered with debris netting laid flat on the ground to help keep the rodents off.  Then they are covered with any old netting to keep the birds away until about 1' high. They renetted once the pods begin to swell and the pigeons start to get interested again.

Current problem is badgers once they are about ready for harvesting and that's going to take amore sturdy approach!

now I have to admit your pea crops really look the business DD and growing peas to your standard I wish also there are some varieties I haven't even heard of that your growing MUM and rodents are also a problem mainly pigeons and without netting it would be a waist of time planting or sowing peas

I tried growing peas but much prefer sugar snaps as you can not only harvest the sweet pods but find some you missed which have little peas that still have that lovely sweetness.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
