picked these at the weekend, the trainers in the background are my hubbies size 14's just so you can get some idea of size.  a bit disappointed with the pumpkin though

They're lovely and so many butternuts.  I got one so far, not big by any means, and one that might make it into the pot before the frosts get it.  I find of all the pumpkins and squash that I grow, I find butternut to be the most difficult  :?

Notice some in the piccy are still whitish, not turned nutty brown.
Mine are like this, can I still use them?
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

yes some are still slightly 'green', we had a frost on sunday night so i wanted to get them in before that. i used one earlier in the season before it had turned nutty brown and it was fine so i will give it a go

I have had a pumpkin ripening in my kitchen for the past couple of weeks and its only just ripened. Don't know if it applies but just leave it for a weeks and see what happens.

Lovely squashes :) Wish i had some!
Who needs a guard-dog when you can have cats for guards!
