Hi,

Having to watch the pennies 2 years ago we started using the paddock,we wanted chickens-well I did! We had to go to the tip and there for sale was the remains of a 6' x 8' garden shed,well,the floor was of no use.we paid £15.00 for it,took it home and had to reconstruct it.

we needed flooring and some roofing.free off of the freegle.
The flooring is laminated oak which we were given-very easy to clean!
The perches are large branches from the paddock.
The nesting boxes were:1 an old kitchen cupboard and 2 half a pine blanket chest.
The roof is lagged inside for the winter.
we spent a total of £59.and a whole heap of hours putting it together.

And below is the result,this has housed 30 chickens easily and my girls love it!

Galvanised shed to left is also from the freegle,it is great for food,bedding and their treatments!

I have one of those tin sheds and they do house lots - mine has 4 metal dustbins with chick crumb (now empty so spare feeders and drinkers will go in this), chick rearers pellets, layers pellets and mixed corn. Plus 2 sacks of hemcore, rat poison, medicines etc.

I have two metal dustbins in mine,one for mixed corn,the other for mash,a large old bookcase for all the medicines and such.it also houses my 120 litre sacks of dust extracted woodshavings,never tried the hemcore?!

And spare sacks of mash.I always buy in bulk,10 at a time,all my food comes from Heygates in Northampton-Bugbrooke,their country layers mash is 16% and only £5.62 per 20 kilo sack
