can anyone explain to me - in very very simple terms how big a hen house 7 chickens would need. I don't have 7, just two but looking to expand and all the houses I look at a great - except A, the sizes are in millimetres, and B, I don't trust estate agents! So in feet and inches, how big would I need to look at?!

Each large fowl hen needs 12ins of roosting space (bantams need less, and obviously very large breeds like brahmas and orpingtons need more).

If you arrange your perches in a V shape, a house which is 4x3 would house 7 comfortably... but only if you build the house yourself, because you probably coudn't find a pre-made house with the correct dimensions and layout for this type of arrangement.

If you want to treat yourself, buy a Forsham Lenham 503

according to the guidlines here - we've space for 14 and a bit chickens, but I wouldn't get 14! or the bit:-S
