Hello!
Well after an eventful holiday in North Wales which ended in a trip to A&E for a dislocated and badly damaged knee (but thankfully no bones broken...) we finally picked up my chickens :tongue2: I couldn't drive so my Dad stepped in 8)
Anyway, pics of the chickens in their new home-
This one is really cute, probably the most timid.

Second most timid.

This one is a bit of a bully but not as bad as her sister!

This one worries me a little bit as she is chasing the two legbars and pulling feathers and eating them... The legbars seem more than capable of running away so I guess its just a case of watching them.

I'm really enjoying them, they are seriously addictive! Luckily i'm on strict rest for my leg at the moment so I can sit and watch them...
They seemed to have settled in really well, the Burford Browns are chasing the Legbars as the breeder said they would... They should settle down though, just need to watch the feather eater!
The breeder said they are about 14weeks old, reckon thats a good estimate?
Oh and some pics of their set up-

Lovely looking birds Nicki and their house is great! :D
-
What are those last two? Are they the Burfor Browns? They look like they have trouble in mind
-
love the last two great colours
-
lovely pics. I am very jealous of the house! Good luck to you all and keep us posted :)
-
Looks like you have got yourself hens with attitude!! :D
How are you finding the doodlehouse, it looks really well? Can you remove the sliding door fully?
-
He he thanks guys :tongue2:
Yup the second two are Burford Browns the first two are Cotswold Legbars... The Burford Browns are most def. more trouble! They are in charge and the Legbars have no say lol. :nowink:
I'm liking how the house looks in the setting, I was worried it might be a bit full on to start with but I actually think it looks really nice :-) The door does indeed come out fully... there is another smaller door on the other side too. I think only time will tell if it is worth the money or not! I think they slept in the nestboxes last night so will need to rectify that before they start laying ::)

What a lovely "girlie" henhouse you've got. Gorgeous chooks too!
-
The house is gorgeous! did you paint it yourself?
-
Lovely girlies!!
-
Lovely girls, but No.3 has got a mean look in her eyes!! ;)
-
I agree Grannie. She looks like a very strict headmistress. I dont think she will stand any nonsense!!!
-
wouldnt want to get on the wrong side of no 3 >:(
-
What a lovely hen house & lovely chicks to go with it.Is it called a doodlehouse did I read correctly?
-
Ah they are pretty ladies and such a pretty house ::)
-
don,t want to worry you but that fencing doesn,t look very fox proof ... love the hen house though very groovy , and a big hello to your hens
-
the fencing looks like electric netting although I'm not sure if it is connected up.
-
Yup it's called a doodlehouse and comes ready painted in those colours!
And it is electric, the fenceline is only 15m (although some is rolled up) and connected to a 9v battery that came with it. It's clicking and giving off a fair charge (gave my brother a bit of a shock- all 6ft2 of him lol) It's got two settings, slow and fast pulse... The other side is a 6ft fence with a ditch the other side. The fence is set into 1ft concrete fittings so should prevent digging under... I was thinking of adding some overhanging fencing just to make it even harder for them to climb over.
We've tried our best to fox proof so appreciate any thoughts on that 8)
