day 4 so only 17 days to go :?

first candled today, didnt expect to see much, but all clearly fertile, nice clear spidery shape inside.

here's a break down of what should happen in each eggy day by day, in case anyones interested.

1. beginnings of digestive canal, spinal column, nervous system, head and eyes.

2. beginnings of heart and ears.

3. heart begins to beat. formation of legs and wings.

4. formation of tongue.

5. reproductive organs begin to form.

6. formation of beak

8. feathers begin to grow

10. beak hardens.

13. formation of claws.

14. takes up hatching position.

16. final hardening of beak, claws and leg scales.

17. beak placed into position by air sac.

18. yolk sac begins to be absorbed into the abdomen.

19. pipping commences.

21. baby peeps hatches.....happy birthday chookies

great news frenchie, ive been and had a chat with every one of my neighbours about elvis. cant beleive how nice everyone was about a cockerel. snotty cow was a bit offish - as expected.

all said that its a lovely noise and while he's not waking up til i let him out of the shed, no one see's a problem ... phew...for now.

this morning when elvis came out, little lad at the bottom was doddle dooing along with him, was so cute.
