Inflation
« on: May 01, 2020, 11:29 »
After vacuuming the house yesterday, with my G.Tech, which is the first one they produced and I have had it about 12 years.    I noticed that the filters weren't fitting into their holder anymore.
I rang GTECH and the man said. 2 new filters and the tray,  £14.99 incl vat + postage £3.99.  He said your machine is white, these will be grey, as that was the colour of the next model.    I didn't care.
Went to put in my card number (he was working from home, so it was a secure way).   Put in the wrong number and then cut myself off.     Rang again, got a lady, went through it all again, ok £30.97.    I said, I prefer your colleague, and she laughed, and explained that he was charging just for the filters.
Whether or however the mistake,    I thought that is one of the quickest price rises I have ever known.
Personally, I think it is Growsters fault.  Yes you, you started the electrical, broken vacuum thread.     You are awful, but I like you.   ( flutters eyelashes, as in Dick Emery)       Mrs Bouquet

MB. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, then stagger off in your best stilettos! You certainly know how to charm a Growster to escort you home when he's in his cups as it were. If you both stagger together in unison whilst doing the Hokey Cokey you just might both make it back home, but in the morning you might have to explain to the chaplain why you said "Never, ever again will I be lured by a tot or two of Growster's home-made wine" when he found you lying prostrate on his doorstep!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Rather like the idea of the stillettos..:0~ And I always go for the eyelashes as well, Mrs B, so, nice one :0+

We've actually just bought a Black and Decker stick vacuum (from Currys) which arrived yesterday, and I'm so pleased with it, I did the bathroom from top to bottom, and even enjoyed the 'work' - for once only...

Using anything that you don't have to plug in with the wires that either you trip up over or aren't long enough is a huge pleasure for me and they're so light and easy to use as well. As I type, OH has just brought me some potted shrimps on a crumpet as a penance for the mega-mess he left me with when he made a beautiful stew for last night's meal. Be still my beating heart as I've now got even more washing-up to do!

I've got one of those floor mops from Lakeland that have a large re-washable attachment cloth, and the base swivels so you can get into those corners where a normal mop won't. It has a little canister that you fill with the accompanying cleaning fluid that's diluted as per instructions and I wouldn't be without that either.
