Apple cider vinegar
« on: August 06, 2007, 08:57 »
Our chickens have been under the weather recently, in fact 1 pullet died despite  our best efforts, but thankfully all our other birds (approx 20) have recovered and are now laying well again.

The bird that died went down hill really quickly - before we could get her to the vet.

However, since this happened I have been recommended Apple Cider Vinegar, I was told to add in a ratio of 10% to the water if the chooks were ill for 3 days and then give them a break for 3 days and repeating the dose for a further 3 days.   I was also told to occasionally add it as a tonic at a ratio of 5%.

Has anyone heard of this or tried it?  It was a very experienced breeder who gave me this tip!
Starting from scratch............

Yes sorrel ACV is well known in the poultry world, You can buy it cheaply from a horsey place complete with bits in ! unlike me who nicked my OH's posh stuff out of the kitchen cupboard

Here we go half way down look for muntys post if He uses it it must be good
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
