Has anyone lost a Ferret?
« on: January 09, 2011, 19:28 »
Hi all and happy new year (well it will be when March gets here)

On me lotty today digging up the now thawed parsnips, went to empty me debris on the compost heap, only to find l was being stared at by a ferret , it was the last thing l would expect to see on my compost heap. it wasn't shy at all and was perfectly happy :D to carrie on rumaging for food while l looked on very closely,(24") so l guess it was a lost pet!
Hopefully it will keep the rats and rabbits at bay. :D :D :D

Talking to yourself maybe MAD, but at least I know what I mean.
You never stop learning.

Put a message on the notice board at the allotment to advise all men to tie string round the bottom of their trousers!  :tongue2:

I have never thought of having cycle clips as pets but I guess they don't eat much!  :D

If you are near rabbit buries it may have been lost underground or sneaked out and wandered off down the hedgerow.
Normal practice is to leave the ferret carrying box with some food near the hole that was being worked and return early the next day and hopefully find him/her curled up asleep.
The owner will be looking for the ferret, a bit of cat food will tempt it into a box if you wish to assist.

Any chickens on the allotment are at risk.
