seem to remember years ago me nan using brown paper and some sort of paste to seal bottled plums,then bake it in the oven,anyone else know how to do this.

Can't help you on that one CB. Not when the 2 piece jar lids make bottling so much easier these days. The jar ring can be used year after year, the sealing lid can be replaced yearly.
