Potato days, garden centres that sell lose or bulk buying.

That's actually quite expensive if you want a lot.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Check the delivery cost to your part of the country. If you are buying online, you're better off knowing that the seller uses Royal Mail and therefore you will get a standard delivery charge for the whole UK , apart from Northern Ireland.

They have JBA packed tubers in the Range and I think the price was £2.99 for two kilos. A limited selection of about 15 varieties but there was one I`d not come across before called Toluca.

I called into a local garden centre on 29th December and they were literally putting the finishing touches to their seed potato display, a combination of 2 kilo packs from T&M and Albert Bartlett at £3.99 and others loose for £1.69 a kilo.  There could have been nearly 50 varieties in total.

After many minutes hovering, I managed to restrict myself to just six varieties, knowing I will be given some Lady Christl at a later date.

Varieties chosen were Vanessa, Winston, Kestel, Picasso, Rooster and Sarpo Mira.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

Ah yes, my son`s boss is a farmer who grows them commercially, and the seed arrives in half tonne bags. He usually only grows LC and Wilja.

If I wanted to grow just those two I could get all my seed for next to nothing, but that would take most of the enjoyment out of trying different varieties, would it not?

What I really want is some of the fantastic red soil that they grow them in. :(

That's true Gandan, but if you have one (or two) favourites, its not a bad idea to stick with them and fit others around if you have space... :)
