Thanks to receiving via this forum some tomato seeds I'm now eating some fantastic tasting beefsteaks. Thinking of next season now. When is the time to select a tomato or two from each variety to generate saved seeds for the 2023 season? Thanks. Stay Safe.

I don't worry about the time of year. If I've got a good looking tomato from a plant, I'll scrape out some seeds.

I've already saved more than sufficient of a couple of varieties from what was left behind on the chopping board after prepping a salad.

Usual caveat, if you save from an F1, don't rely on the offspring being like the parent.

I place the seeds in rows on kitchen paper and stuff the folded paper on top of the spice rack.  Come next year I neatly cut the paper into squares and plant the seed, paper and all.
