Title: shredded paper
Post by: Caretaker on March 06, 2010, 10:53
At my office we have shredded paper would this be alright for bean trenches ?
I also was going to mix in some chicken peletts.

Shredded paper is excellent to add to bean trenches and to compost heaps (I found this out last year  :D ) just make sure it is mixed with green material as well. Chciken pellets would be helpful as well in your trench -- build up those beans  :D :D

I use shredded paper in my chickens' nesting box - even better.

PS  I put it on the compost heap first though.  Best not to use fresh chicken manure when planting out.

Compost = horse poo + hedge trimmings + sawdust + shredded paper + kitchen waste.

How deep should the pit be under the soil that the beans are planted in ?

The shredded paper idea is good for me as I have a bit of shredding to do. :)
