Title: Have to move girls, will they be ok in this heat?
Post by: rileyfin on May 23, 2012, 18:40
Lumber jacks are starting on my side of the wood tomorrow, they have cut down alot of the trees at the bottom of the garden and now there is no shade. They are starting on the top of the garden in the morning so I will have to move the henhouse and run to the bottom of the garden for a couple of days, and they will have to stay in the runs.

Will make sure they have plenty of water and put a sand bath in, will they be ok, is there anything else i can do?

could you fasten some material over their run to protect them from the midday sun?

U could try a windbreak against the mesh that should give them some shade

Thanks for the good advice guys, I ended up letting them out they were not bothered after all. Once the branches were off there was nothing to harm them.
They found the shavings falling like snow very entertaining!
