Growing under a cold frame?
« on: February 20, 2011, 17:43 »
Do things grow better under cold frames with wooden sides or glazed sides. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each for bringing on seedlings and hardening off??

I tried to ask this earlier but the powers that be moved it to Design and Construction. I want to know about growing conditions from those with experience.

I can only tell you about a wooden sided cold frame from experience,I have grown carrots sown in Febuary without any problems, lettuce have done well,I think the only downside may be that when hardening plants of in it they become leggy if left in there for to long (I spose the light being above them it draws them).
I do think that the sides being wooden helps it retain heat better.
Hope this is of help to you.
