Sourcing some more anti-ant recipes, I found that they don't like peppermint at all, so I plan to grow a bit of peppermint where they like to build their mounds, but the mint will be planted in containers to control them. Just finished doing battle with open planted mint (thanks to previous owner) in the veg garden and it's all out, and never again.  No ants at all though. You can also do peppermint extract and oil solutions in water and spray over areas along with ant killer bait (in small containers) for them to feed to the queen.

I agree with Munty. The Boys in Blue do a far more difficult Job in many ways but I would swap Diggers Police Force Packed Lunch for K rations any day.  Even if you did get a bar of choc and a 5 packet of cigs (Players Weights) in them. Yuk Yuk .  Or did you get proper food Munty. :?:

Goodbye to ants

Ants wont cross a line of chalk, try it.  Also if you mix a little bottle of Clove Oil in a watering can and sprinkle it over the ground by the nest using a fine spray, they will up and move.  You can watch the flying ones go first then the workers follow. But unless they are a real problem I would leave them alone.

The coldest place I have been was only minus 35 I was on a little Field Day. And I saw a pod put a ciggy holder in his mouth.  You know what we thought of him.  The effect was quite interesting

Coffee is poisonous to ants. Just empty the used grain out of the coffee filter/machine/cafetiere and spread it on the nest. I don't think instant coffee works but then I don't drink instant coffee!
Do not underestimate the therapeutic values of weeding!
1 dog, 2 children, 3 good reasons not to spread poison!

Don't forget that ant's nests get very hot and would ultimately destroy roots.

If you've got probs with ants, plant a few sunflowers here and there in the garden. The ants will herd the aphids onto them!   The sunflowers are so tough that the aphids cause very little damage and  have nice seed heads for  birds to enjoy!
