Growing Garlic

Hi There - can anyone tell me if i am too late to plant garlic? Also when i plant them do I completely cover the clove or leave a bit uncovered bit like with onion sets?
Silly question I a m sure but i am new to all this.

Hi, I think its too late for garlic, as far as I know it needs cold to develop, not sure, but mine as been out since Autumn. I'm sure if different some1 else will say.

Probably be ready by next autumn unless you intend to use it as "wet" or "Green" garlic.

Too late i'd say mines been out since October although some garlic that we bought on holiday in France back in February started to sprout so put them last month in to see what happens and they have started growing

Huumm might explain why they were going cheap at the garden centre then he he ! i should try checking before buying ! maybe i will just pop them in and see what happens! thanks a lot!

I would, right end up & about 3" deep, you could always re-dig up if needed  :)

I planted my main crop the week before Christmas i think and i put some more in around february - i know it was in the middle of a cold snap but cant remember when.

The first lot looks pretty good but the second lot hasnot shot through yet.

I had intended to put mine in in November but the ground was waterlogged so I left it.  Then we had snow, so they eventually went in in Feb.

Am not expecting huge bulbs, but some is better than none.

If you have already got the bulbs, you might as well try them.  Plant as you would with onion sets, leaving a 6in spacing between them.
