We have a limpy gull which hangs about anyway, so we wouldn't notice any difference in his gait.

i do not like to kill things so put any catterperllars and slugs i find in the compost bin, they can eat as much as they want in there and will leave my veg alone.

My clean up crew keep their beady eyes out ready to swoop down for any tasty morsels so I can toss slugs and snails several feet away and they'll be gone in a few seconds.
