storing tats
« on: August 21, 2010, 18:12 »
I have just taken out of their pots some Charlotte tats.  I have so many they won't fit in the fridge and I have no hessian sacks.  I keep my onions and garlic in the summer house and they always seem fine, can I put the tats in their as well.

Here's an interesting link:

from a respected university which debunks the theory that onion and potato gases will cause the other to rot faster.

Ideal storage temps for potatoes is 40 degrees F so if you have anywhere that's a steady 40, put your tatties there. But the 40 degrees is also the sprouting temperature for onions, so decide where you'd prefer to keep each.

Also make sure they are not exposed to light or they will go green, and give you a tummy ache
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
