I'm just about to sow my 2nd lot, so not too late.
Here's a thread with a few ideas  :)

I just put another 25 seeds in the chitter this evening and yesterday I ordered another packet of the same variety- Sweet Sensation, from Mr F`s online.
I`m left handed, what`s your excuse?

We all do it differently. I always put them on a wet piece of kitchen paper with another damp piece over the top.

Put them in the bottom of the airing cupboard, look at them every day. They should have a sprout by day 2. Plant them as soon as you can see any sprout at all.

Ive still not sowed mine! might a weekend or even wait another week yet!!
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

and remember the sprouty bits are roots so they point down when you plant them  :)

Indeed!

I used that method for years until they all rotted a couple of years ago - I think some of the newer varieties, coated in fungicide, are very prone to rot-before-germinate :(

I now just use kitchen paper under them, and up the sides (of a ramekin in my case) and then some cling film over the top to stop them drying out.  Used not to do the cling film and had to top up the water at least once a day ... the cling film has worked better, and keeps plenty of moist air around the seeds too.

in a hurry to get them planed before i left on holiday over easter i quickly planted them all in seed cells rather than my normal paper pots, un chitted this year.

Placed them in my unheated green house and returned 11 days later to find them all 3-4 inches tall.

I must book more holidays its the best way to grow, if i stayed at home i would have kept looking and looking at them wondering why they have or have not grown....

I recommend that as the best approach to sowing sweetcorn! 8)
