Sweetcorn
« on: May 05, 2009, 19:57 »
I have some sweetcorn hardening off, they're about 6 inches tall or so.  Do you think it will need to be put under pop bottle cloches?  I'm thinking of planting it out maybe next week - quite mild by the sea.

Im putting mine out under plastic bottles on the 15th , after the full moon on the 9th  ;).
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I might do that too - all I need now are the bottles.  I've got a few but not enough.  I've been asking around but I might have to buy bottled water just to get the bottles, seems a bit crazy  ::)

My daughter put hers out this weekend, with a bubble wrap blanket for night time or any day it is cold/windy ..... she lives in Purley Cross near Croydon. Mine are safely in the greenhouse as it is a bit chilly at the moment  ::)  Have plent of room to grow though as the pots are deep  :D

And also quite windy by the sea, good luck though. Feel free to do them a bit later following years.  ;)

I'm not too woried about the wind as it's quite sheltered on the plot, not right on the beach or anything  ::) but the temperature is several degrees higher than it is inland, I wouldn't dare put them out if the plot was closer to where I live up in the hills.

Mine are still in the greenhouse just poking their heads above the compost and will be put out whenever I get a bed ready!

Mine are fromy 6-8inches long... should I be considering putting them to ground soon?

They are currently in the open 4-tier greenhouse.  It stays open at night too and they have been there since the day I sow'd them.
